The first Lincolnshire Ladies County Rounders Championships was held this Saturday with the Oompa Lumpa’s coming out as champions.  The tournament was made up of teams from the Lincoln, Market Rasen and Grantham rounders leagues and was hosted by Wolds Leisure centre in Market Rasen. The final involved the Oompa Lumpa’s from the Lincoln league and the Grass Monkeys from the Market Rasen league. With the game finely balanced at 22 – 17 after the first innings the Grass monkeys set a total 40 rounders for the Oompa Lumpa’s to beat. The Grass Monkey fought hard in the field to restrict the Oompa Lumpa's to half rounders with some excellent fielding and bowling. However, with big hits and excellent running the Oompa Lumpa’s reached 21 in the second innings, bringing their total to 43. This meant the Oompa Lumpa’s had the honour of being crowned the first ever County Rounders Champions with a close 43 rounders – 40 win.
